Market analysis of 24 June 2024
Wind generators delivered 91.48 GWh on 24 June 2024 and solar generators delivered 26.92 GWh, a combined 118.41 GWh across Australia’s five eastern and southern market regions. In Network Map’s daily unit records for 1 June to 30 June 2024, that was the 7th-highest daily wind total of 30 dates and the 7th-highest combined wind and solar day.
Wind output averaged 59.22 GWh a day over the same dates, so 24 June ran 54.5% above the period mean. Hydro added 35.64 GWh, while black and brown coal units supplied 208.15 GWh.
The Daily Pattern Through The Month
The first chart places the event day in its monthly context. It shows daily wind and solar energy for each date from 1 June to 30 June. Wind was the larger of the two on 24 June, at 3.40 times the solar total.

Where The Energy Came From
Victoria supplied the largest regional share of wind and solar energy, 50.27 GWh or 42.5% of the day’s total. South Australia followed with 32.29 GWh, and Queensland contributed 22.23 GWh.
New South Wales delivered 9.82 GWh of wind and solar energy, 8.3% of the five-region total.

Reading The Day For Asset Performance
A high-output day is a useful benchmark for comparing a single wind or solar unit with its fuel group and its region. The next step is to match each unit’s interval output with the prices that applied when the energy was delivered, which turns the volume result into a revenue view.
Figures use positive energy from Network Map’s daily unit records for 24 June 2024, grouped by source fuel classification and region. Daily totals are summed across all classified units.
